Joseph Priestley House
Joseph Priestley House contains the laboratory and books of Dr. Joseph Priestley, the Unitarian theologian who discovered oxygen. The house contains period furnishings. Montour Preserve
Montour Preserve is a nature preserve and recreation area centering on 165-acre Lake Chillisquaque. Visitors enjoy boating, hiking, picnicking and fishing in summer and cross-country skiing and ice fishing in winter. Pioneer Tunnel Coal Mine and Steam Train Ride
Poneer Tunnel Coal Mine and Steam Train Ride, 4 blks. off SR 61, following signs, offers a tour through a coal mine on battery-powered mine cars. Experienced miners act as guides and explain the operation. Mine temperatures range from 48 to 52 degrees Fahrenheit; a sweater or light jacket is advised. On a separate 30-minute tour a 1920s steam train powers mine cars three-fourths of a mile around a mountainside to an abandoned strip mine and bootleg coal hole.
