The Academy of Natural Sciences
The Academy of Natural Sciences is at 19th St. and Benjamin Franklin Pkwy. Founded in 1812, it is the oldest continually operating institution of its kind in America. Outstanding among the natural science exhibits are the children's nature center, Outside-In; and Discovering Dinosaurs, where bones and eggs belonging to prehistoric giants are displayed. The Athenaeum of Philadelphia
The Athenaeum of Philadelphia, 219 S. 6th St., is named for Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom. Founded in 1814, this three-story Italianate Revival building is furnished with American fine and decorative arts from the first half of the 19th century.
