Gettysburg is a pleasant city found in southern Pennsylvania, set just off Highway 15, and only minutes from the Maryland border. The seat of Adams County, Gettysburg is most famous for the November 19, 1863 speech given by President Abraham Lincoln in dedication of the Soldiers' National Cemetery. Guests of the Best Western hotel in Gettysburg enjoy the rich history of the area, along with a mix of current and fun attractions. Be sure to visit the Gettysburg National Military Park - site of the Civil War Battle of Gettysburg. Continuing on that trend, don't miss the Adams County Historical Society. And for those seeking an outdoor excursion, be sure to visit the Caledonia State Park, which offers access to the Appalachian Trail, and Codorus State Park for fishing and boating. And a fun little event held every October is the National Apple Harvest Festival - be sure to take the kids.
